I could also use a suggestion for a good general interest book for an exchange his class is having during the holiday party if you have time. Thanks!
I am NEVER not in a reccing mood! I love it!
It’s probably obvious but has he read Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey? And humble brag - I linked to the one I did because one of the proudest achievements of this children’s librarian was memorizing that whole title. Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space and the Subsequent Attack of the Equally Evil Lunchroom Zombie Nerds. I love that Captain Underpants is totally a first grade level book but doesn’t shy away from using “subsequent” in the title.
If Captain Underpants is already a hit try The Prince of Underwhere by Hale! There’s a whole world under the toilet. Also when the kids go into the land Underwhere, the book switches from prose to graphic novel which is just fun.
Both gross and general interest, I love Squish by Holm. Totally graphic novel about an amoeba. What more do you want out of life than a graphic novel about an amoeba?
And another general interest everybody loves this sort of book is Binky the Space Cat by Ashley Spires. It’s about a cat who is convinced that his house is a rocket ship and he’s in outerspace. He spends his days protecting his home from aliens (mostly bugs but sometimes dust) and exploring the unknown outside world.
