I did a craptastic job at reading the Newberies this year. I have read and loved The One and Only Ivan, by Katherine Applegate, the 2013 Newbery Medal winner.
I have read none of the three Newbery Honor Books Splendors and Glooms by Laura Amy Schlitz, Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World’s Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin, and Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage.
