Kaylee has been asking me for a globe for ages and I kept forgetting and forgetting and last week I encountered a sale on good, cheap, light globes and I ordered her one and it arrived today. Kaylee keeps visiting me where I’m curled up on the floor (don’t even say it. I know) and showing me different things. “Look, Mom! This globe has Antarctica!” “The South Atlantic Ocean is right next to Antarctica!” “China is over here!”

Part of me feels guilty that I’m not feeling well enough to show her all the parts of the world important to our family: Taiwan, Calabria, County Cork… but that part of me is being shouted down by the parts that are so darn proud of how much she is learning herself from reading the globe and the parts that know there is always time.
